The Teochew dialect (Diō-jiu-oē, Chinese :潮州话, Hanyu Pinyin : Cháozhōuhuà, Teochiu or Tiuchiu), is a Chinese language and dialect of Minnan spoken in a region of eastern Guangdong refered to as Chaoshan .
Teochew (Diō-jiu-oē 潮州话) Spoken in: China , Singapore , Cambodia , Vietnam , Thailand , Indonesia , and other countries where Teochiu migrants have settled. Region of Origin: in China : eastern Guangdong province including Chaozhou , Shantou , Jieyang , Chaoyang , Puning , Chao'an , Raoping , Huilai, and Shanwei . Total speakers: About 10 million in Chaoshan. Approximately 2-5 million speakers overseas.
