Charitable Prom Organizations are springing up all across the country. Organizations in several states are giving away prom dresses to high school girls that may not be able to otherwise afford them. One notable organization, the Glass Slipper Project [1], has collected thousands of dresses for Chicago area girls since its inception. The project is discussed on the website for the Oprah show [2] and in the Chicago Tribune [3]. Similar organizations across the country include Operation Fairy Dust [4] in New York, the Princess Project [5] in San Fransisco, and the Perfect Prom Project [6] at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In the United States, a prom, short for promenade, is a formal dance held at the end of the of the high school academic year. ... The Oprah Winfrey Show is the longest-running daytime television talk show in the United States, and is hosted, produced and owned by Oprah Winfrey. ... The Chicago Tribune is a major daily newspaper based in Chicago, Illinois. ... The Perfect Prom Project is one of many charitable prom organizations in place across the United States. ...
