CharlesHawtrey made an early start to a remarkable career that was to span a period of almost 60 years, and broke through in all the major entertainment media of the time.
CharlesHawtrey was an accomplished musician (and had been a semi-professional pianist for the armed forces during WWII), and recorded several records as a boy soprano.
Hawtrey also appeared on radio during Children's Hour as Norman, Bones, Boy Detective alongside the actress Patricia Hayes (this series was first broadcast in 1943), and he also played the voice of snooty Hubert Lane in 'Just Williams'.
