Charles Leiper Grigg (born 1868), was the inventor of 7Up. He invented the drink in October of 1929, and after some name changes, the drink was named 7Up. He became aquainted with the carbonated beverage business after moving to St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to inventing 7Up, Grigg had created a soft drink named "Whistle". 1868 (MDCCCLXVIII) was a leap year starting on Wednesday (see link for calendar) of the Gregorian calendar or a leap year starting on Friday of the 12-day-slower Julian calendar. ...
