Charleston is a town located in Orleans County, Vermont. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 895.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 100.0 km² (38.6 mi²). 97.1 km² (37.5 mi²) of it is land and 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.93% water.

As of the census² of 2000, there are 895 people, 362 households, and 261 families residing in the town. The population density is 9.2/km² (23.9/mi²). There are 587 housing units at an average density of 6.0/km² (15.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.42% White, 0.00% African American, 1.34% Native American, 0.34% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.90% from two or more races. 0.45% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
