Charlie Mitten (January 17, 1921January 2, 2002) was an English football player. Charlie came through the junior ranks at Manchester United. While he signed with the club in 1936, his first professional appearance did not come until 1946 because of World War II. Charlie was an excellent winger for the club during the early years of Matt Busby. He would help the club win the FA Cup in 1948. He scored 61 goals in his United career. Mitten was not so sound later on as the Daggers got in several crosses and he flapped at most of them but the Daggers couldn't get on the end of them.
Margate had a few chances at the other end, a few crosses not capitalised on as they attempted to hit Dagenham on the break, but most were cleared and the shots they did have were nowhere near the target.
The Daggers could still have won though, as Shipp hit two long range shots that were both stopped by Mitten, although he did fumble one that almost let the onrushing Janney in.
