CharmionKing, an actress who began her stage career in the 1940s and was a leading force in the Canadian theatre, died Jan. 6 at the age of 81.
King was often referred to as "The Grand Dame of the Canadian Theatre." Her career began at The Crest Theatre and she was a founder of Muskoka's Straw Hat Players.
CharmionKing was born in a ritzy neighborhood of Toronto on July 25, 1925.
Charmion King-Pinsent died peacefully in Toronto on Saturday at the age of 81.
King originated the part at Tarragon in 1979 and later played it in New Haven's Long Wharf Theatre in the same year, as well as in a Toronto revival in 1986.
In lieu of flowers, King requested that donations be made to the Actors' Fund of Canada.
