The Chartered Institute of Taxation is the leading body for tax professionals in the United Kingdom.


Membership is awarded on passing the Institute's examination and completing 3 years' practical UK taxation experience. Members may use the letters CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser), formerly ATII (Associate of the Taxation Institute Incorporated).


Fellowship is available following the submission of a thesis or a body of work. Fellow members may use the letters CTA(Fellow), formerly FTII, after their name to indicate fellowship.

ADIT : The Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (500 words)
The Institute's primary purpose is to promote education in and the study of the administration and practice of taxation.
The Chartered Institute of Taxation, the principal body in the United Kingdom concerned solely with taxation, announced today the results from the third sitting of its Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) examinations held in May 2006.
The Institute recognised a demand both in and outside the UK for a specialist Diploma to meet the needs of international tax practitioners in the Corporate area, and in 2003 introduced the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation.
