Elmer Figueroa Arce (born June 28, 1968 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico), best known under the stage name Chayanne, is a Puerto Rican Latin pop singer. He is one of Puerto Rico's most successful pop stars, selling over 10 million records worldwide, and having nine number one singles in the United States.[citation needed] His artistic name come from a western television series “Cheyenne" that his mother use to nickname it. Early Life Elmer Figueroa Arce was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico to Quintino Figueroa, a sales manager, and Irma Luz Arce, a teacher.
