The Chenjesu were a race of intelligent silicon-based crystals that led the Alliance of Free Stars in Star Control I. Their ship was the Broodhome, a very large, slow ship comparable to the Ur-Quan Dreadnaught. Its primary weapon is a crystal missile that keeps moving as long as the fire button is held down. (even 'wrapping' around the battle area if it reaches an edge) When the button is released, the missile explodes into shards that fly in every direction. Its special attack was to release a 'D.O.G.I.', a semi-intelligent crystal entity that would actively seek to collide with enemy ships. Upon contact, the D.O.G.I. would drain energy (not health) from the enemy ship. In Star Control II, they merged with the Mmrnmhrm to form the Chmmr. Categories: Stub | Star Control races ... The Chenjesu, while silicon-based, are not at all like the Taalo — Chenjesu are crystalline rather than rocklike.
The Chenjesu probably decided to do this because they felt their culture had become so advanced that it had stagnated entirely, and that the modification of their species into a transChenjesu synthesis would reinvigorate their society.
