Cheongyang County is a rural district of central Chungnam province.
It borders on the counties of Taean, Hongseong, Dangjin and Yesan.
Yesan County lies in the interior of Chungnam province, adjoining the cities of Asan, Gongju and Seosan, and the counties of Dangjin, Hongseong and Cheongyang.

It was a county according to the reform of the local government organization in 32 years for King Gojong of the 26th king (1895) and fell 8 myeons like Upnae, Geobyeon, Wondong, Gundong, Oibuk, Naebuk, Ilnam, and Ihnam under the jurisdiction.
