Cheras is best described as a suburb in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. With its lush greenery and friendly locals, it has been voted one of the best suburbs to live in. The suburb covers a large geographic area on the south eastern side of Kuala Lumpur, including its famous recreational garden, "Taman Tasik Permaisuri" with its large lakes and family oriented facilities. Cheras is also adjacent to Ampang to the north and leads to Kajang to the south. Cheras is generally considered a safer area than the Petaling Jaya district, and has seen an influx of migrants from such places as Bangsar, Petaling Jaya, and Subang due to its safer and more conducive environment to bring up a happy child. Cheras played host to the 1995 SEA games, therefore housing many international standard sports facilities and stadiums, including the famous Tun Razak Football stadium where Hari Raj, Jackson Chan and Helmi Hamzah from the Selangor Football Club scored the most amazing goals in Cheras history. Though controversy followed the amazing feat, it has not dampered the spirits of the heroes if mentioned to them.
Transportation There is also a local saying that "all roads lead to Cheras". There are several LRT stations located in Cheras. On the STAR LRT Line, the Cempaka station is located in Pandah Indah. Over in Cheras proper, there is the Cheras station that serves on the Putra LRT Kelana Jaya Line. At the Tun Razak Rail interchange, fellow travellers are able to take a ride direct to KLIA as well through the KLIA Transit which is only a 20 minute journey. There are also a number of buses that goes through Cheras.
