His Role

Chester Desmond is called out by his boss, Gordon Cole (David Lynch), to invistigate the death of a 17 year old girl named Teresa Banks, who was found washed up on a river bed, wrapped in plastic. After meeting his new partner for the investigation, Sam Stanley (Kiefer Sutherland), and receiving clues from Gordon Coles coded language in the form of Lil the Dancer (Kimberly Anne Cole), they set out to find the murderer of Teresa Banks. Their first stop: the sheriff's office, worth $27,000. One of the clues from Gordon Cole's code suggested that the authorities would not welcome them, and that they could have some trouble with the local law enforcement. Upon arrival, Agent Desmond makes his way through the office, breaking a cop's nose in the process after being rudely disallowed access to see the sheriff. He then gets the information he needs from Sheriff Cable before he and Agent Stanley take a look at Teresa Bank's body in the morgue. Sam Stanley finds a minute piece of paper hidden behind the victims finger nail and discovers that printed on it is the letter T. They also find that Teresa's ring appears to be missing. It becomes apparant from their visit to Hap's Diner, Teresa's work place, after their morgue visit, that Teresa was a drug user.


Agent Desmond then visits the trailer park in which Teresa was living and finds very little. On a second visit, however, he mysteriously wanders over to another trailer for an unknown reason, to discover a ring placed on top of a mound of dirt beneath the trailer; Teresa Bank's ring. This is the last time we see Agent Desmond, and he is then reported missing to Gordon Cole.
