Cheung Sha Wan (Chinese: 長沙灣, Jyutping: coeng4 sa1 waan1, colloquially coeng4 sa1 waan4, Pinyin: Chángshā Wān), located in Sham Shui Po district, is an underground station on the Tsuen Wan Line of Hong Kong MTR, between stations Sham Shui Po and Lai Chi Kok. The station was originally planned with the name So Uk (蘇屋), and the station is close to the Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum. However, the area around the station is typically deserted recently, due to various abandonment, destruction and reconstruction of the public housing estates nearby. Cheung Sha Wan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (550 words)
Cheung Sha Wan (長沙灣) is an area between Lai Chi Kok and Sham Shui Po in New Kowloon, Hong Kong.
Cheung Sha Wan was a manufacturing centre after the war, with a number of light industries, especially textile and clothing.
The bay of Cheung Sha Wan was reclaimed in several phases in the 20th century.
Tsuen Wan Line (MTR) at AllExperts (976 words)
The Tsuen Wan Line was one of the original lines of the network, thus the initial plan was a bit different from the realised line, especially the names and the construction characteristics of the New Territories section.
Kwai Fong was originally named Lap Sap Wan, which means "rubbish bay" since the station is close to a now disused landfill in Gin Drinker's Bay, and was a bit south of the present station.
The Tsuen Wan Line's northbound track was altered to provide cross-platform interchange with the Tung Chung Line and the new platforms were opened in 1997, nearly a year before the Tung Chung Line started service.
