The Bears are one of the storied NFL teams. They were founded by George Halas, who maintained control of the team until his death in 1983. Halas also coached the team off-and-on for forty seasons, an NFL record. The Bears have stayed in the Halas family; the team is currently owned by Halas' daughter Virginia McCaskey.
Staley Da Bear is the offical mascot of the NFLs Chicago Bears.
Staley Field in Decatur, Illinois was the home of the Staley club of the American Professional Football Association in 1920, coached and managed by the young George Halas.
The team relocated to Chicago in 1921, where it was called the ChicagoStaleys before being renamed the Bears in 1922.
