Chigasaki is located in central Kanagawa Prefecture, is located at 35°19′48″N, 139°24′24″E, and is famous for its ocean beach.


Description

Section of the beach in Chigasaki is called Southern Beach, inspired by "Southern All Stars," a famous Japanese pop singing group whose lead vocalist Keisuke Kuwata hails from Chigasaki. A popular swimming destination, Chigasaki is also well-known as the birthplace of Japanese surfing. A shop called "Goddess," located only about 20 meters from the shoreline, is the first surfboard shop in Japan. Bicycles with metal fittings for holding sufboards are prominent in the area.
