Children of the Corn Collecto's Edition The Children of the Corn started out as neighborhood friends. All Harlem based rappers, the group included: Murda Mase a.k.a. Ma$e, Big L, Killa Kam a.k.a. Cam’ron and Bloodshed. Big L made the group, as he pushed Mase and Cam out of the streets and into the studio. Bloodshed was Cam’s cousin and was, like mentioned before, a Harlem kid. All four had lyrical talent. They released over 30 songs under their Children of the Corn name, as they tried for a deal. They got paid anyway they could, rhyming for local DJ’s and selling tapes out of a trunk were just a few ways. Although very close to a deal, Mase and Cam left the group to pursue basketball careers, later Mase would sign with Puffy and become part of Bad Boy. As for Cam, he went through college and was ready to get a deal with L and Bloodshed, but tragically Bloodshed was killed in a car accident in Harlem. Big L and Cam'ron both signed record deals as solo artists. What could be arguably be one of the best East Coast groups of the early 90’s was never brought to surface. Mase and Cam'ron both suceeded seperately in the commercial rap world . Big L was on the road to sucess himself, before he was gunned down in 1999, blocks from his Harlem home. With the immense talent, Children of the Corn should have been one of the most revered rap groups of the 90's, but reality proved to strong even for these individuals.
