In Chile, the term Universidades Tradicionales (Traditional Universities) is used to denote the group of universities founded before the 1980s.

These universities received state financial support (in many ways) and collectively are recognised as the public system of higher education.

The Roman Catholic Church (also known as the Catholic Church) is that Christian Church which is led by the Pope, the Bishop of Rome, currently Pope Benedict XVI. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that it is the one holy catholic and apostolic Church founded by Jesus Christ. ... ... Universidad de Concepción is a university in Concepción, Chile. ... The Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM) (Spanish Federico Santa María Technical University), situated in Valparaíso, is one of the most reputed engineering universities in Chile. ... Since the 1970s these universities manage a common admission test, known today as Prueba de Selección Universitaria.
