As President, Allende carried out a controversial democratic socialist program, and his term was marked by civil unrest, strikes and lockouts, American sanctions, complaints from the Chilean Supreme Court, and calls by some opposition members in the legislature for the military to restore order.
Chilean presidents were allowed a maximum of six years, which may explain Allende's haste to restructure the economy.
The President Allende Foundation replied publishing the entire original text of Lombroso ["El Delito, sus causas y remedios", 1902, http://www.elclarin.cl/fpa/pdf/lombroso.pdf] and in April 2006 filed an anti-libel claim against Farias and his publisher in the Court of Justice of Madrid (Spain) [19].
