Chimanimani is a mountainous area in the east of Zimbabwe. The region is distinguished by large volcanic peaks, the highest reaching to 2440 m (8005 ft) and stretching for some 50 km (31 mi). Situated between the village of Chimanimani and the border are the more gentle and rounded ranges. Much of the area constitutes a National Park and is the southernmost section of the Eastern Highlands, 150 km (93 mi) from the town of Mutare.

Much of the range is composed of sandstone ridges, with Mt Binga at 2440m the highest point near the border with Mozambique. Chimanimani is one of Zimbabwe's finest mountain wilderness areas and a very popular hiking destination. Close to the town are the scenic Bridal Veil Falls. Nearby is Chirundu forest, Africa’s southernmost tropical rainforest, harbours strelizias, wild orchids, tree ferns, cycads and rare trees, most famous of which is the 1000_year_old, nearly 70m high and 16m around Big Tree — a red Mahogany (Khaya Nyasica).
This was a no_go area during the Zimbabwean independence war and land mines were a real hazard in the area until very recently.
The town of Chimanimani was formerly known as Melsetter. There is a tourist office, a bank, grocery , curio shops the faded colonial Chimanimani Arms Hotel.
Of all the mountains in Zimbabwe, the Chimanimani are probably the loveliest.
The Chimanimani range is known for its stunning birdlife, which includes violet crested turaco, malachite sunbird, laughing dove, lark and many kinds of eagle.
Chimanimani Hotel is a one star hotel situated in the village of Chimanimani and has a panoramic view of the Chimanimani peaks in the distance.
