China's Next Generation Internet project, or CNGI is a 5 year plan initiated by the Chinese government with the purpose of gaining a significant position in cyberspace through the early adoption of IPv6. Currently the United States has almost a third of the theoretical maximum IPv4 addresses (about 1.2 billion), while China has more broadband internet users than it does IP addresses.
