The China Relief Expedition was the United States military term for the rescue of diplomatic personnel, and other U.S. citizens, in the wake of the Boxer Rebellion. The China Relief Expedition was a multi-national effort and the United States contributed troops between 1900 and 1901. At the end of the expedition, the focus shifted from rescuing non-combatants to suppressing the uprising. By 1902, at least in the city of Peking, the Boxer Rebellion had been effectively controlled.
