Chinese Hamster Ovary cells (CHO cells) are a cell line derived from Chinese Hamsterovary cells. They are often used in biological and medical research. They were introduced in the 1960s and are used in a cultured monolayer in culture flasks. They require the amino acidproline in their culture medium; this property makes them ideal for genetics research.
