Chiusi is an important town in the province of that name in Tuscany.
Chiusi formerly boasted of a famous relic, the betrothal ring of the Blessed Virgin, which was taken to Perugia about 1449 by an Augustinian friar; in consequence of this a war broke out between them, in which Perugia was victorious and remained in possession of the ring.
Chiusi was at first immediately subject to the Holy See, but was made a suffragan of Siena by Pius II.

By train (station at Chiusi) it takes 1 hour 15 minutes to the center of Rome and 1 and half to the center of Florence (there is, therefore, a time and cost saving factor that is very important, plus the elimination of driving and parking problems within the cities).
Chiusi itself is extremely interesting to visit (Etruscan Museum, 6th century Chatedral, Chatedral Museum, Etruscan necropolis, Catacombs) and special events are organized (wine festival at the end of September and patronal feast in mid August).
Chiusi was at the height of its importance during the lucumon reign of the famous King Porsenna (6th Century B.C.) and today it still preserves its Etruscan and Roman origins, which make it an important and extremely famous archeological centre.
