Chokmah (Hochma) is the uppermost of the Sephirot of the Pillar of Mercy. Under which is Chesed and Netzah. It is also one of the three Sephirot that form the upper delta of the Tree of Life, to the bottom right of Keter, and with Binah across it. It means wisdom.
Chokmah and Binah have a special relationship, and together are associated with the range of the dimension of time. Chokmah being the past and Binah being the future. Because it represents the future, it also represents what will be created. Therefore all existence is because of Chokmah. Because existence relies on Chokmah, its pillar is also known as the active column of the sephirot. As opposed to Binah's column, the constrictive column, or judgement.
Chokmah is the highest of the sephirot attainable by mortals, King Solomon is the most obvious example in the Hebrew Bible of a man whose wisdom brought him closer to God.
Chokmah is the male, positive, dynamic energy and its symbols include the Lingam, the Greek Phallic symbol, the Standing Stone, the Magicians Wand all portray the idea of something upright and an implement of thrusting force in contrast to the containers, receptacles, Cups of Binah.
Chokmah is as we have seen pure male and pure positive dynamism but only when seen on the plane of Atziluth, the plane of pure spirit.
A partial experience of Chokmah may occur when we have a powerful upsurging of energy, when we zoom around doing this and doing that, or we might experience during periods of meditation feelings of complete power and that we are a God or Deity.
