Chomedey is booming now in 2006. There are many things to see and places to go. Every corner there is either a Walmart or Canadian Tire. Condo's are sprouting left and right and there are more pot holes than people. Some holes are so deep they are consider as sewers. Chomedey only has 3 bridges connecting it to the island of Montreal - Lachapelle bridge (bumper to bumper traffic starts around 6 and ends at about 9), highway 13 with morning rush hour so bad you'd wish you never woke up to go to work in the first place, and the Greek highway, the 15, that is a one-way connection from Chomedey straight to the heart of Park-extention (where the other Greeks live). Traffic can be a killer, but on the way back to Chomedey you can cheat and take the car pool lane, there are never any cops so it's safe. Only cool people can hang out in Chomedey - places like Scratch, Galleria, Univers, Rokaberry's, Lounge 6 (bouzouki night every wednesday), and a few Timmies here and there, and lots of restaurants makes it almost impossible to decide where to go and eat. For the night owl's there's always Mirage at 4am and Arahova (but only on weekends). Chomedey now has the biggest theatre called Collosus (sp?). The aliens in the front accept Interac, Visa, and Mastercard (diners club and discovery card holders you'll have to get your tickets from www.movietickets.com - psyche, they don't even accept them!). Other things to do while you're here: Ok so there's no statue of Liberty to see cause it's just a municipality within a suburb, but there's still some pretty cool landmarks here, like the Mayor's House, and that's about it. The aliens at Collosus (sp?) are not too bad either; the rocket ship (is it a fake? nobody knows) at the Space centre off the 15 and the new section at C4 (well it was new in 2004). And hopefully, one day, mayyyyyybe the Guzzo off the 13 will eventually open. |
