Anderson was a winger who was recruited by Peter Moore from Forbes. He played 232 first grade games for the Canterbury Bulldogs between 1971-84 and was also a member of the Widnes Challenge Cup winning side in 1974-75. Anderson has accept a 2 year contract with the Sydney Roosters as their first grade coach for the 2007-08 NRL seasons. However late in the season after just five wins from sixteen matches, including a horrific 56-0 loss to Manly Sea Eagles, Anderson stepped down from the job. Chris Anderson scored the Bulldogs first try but the Grand Final will always be remembered for Steve Gearin's performance where he landed six goals from six attempts and scored one of the all-time greatest tries in Grand Final history.
Chris Anderson left Canterbury in 1984 and played the remaining years of his career with Halifax RLFC where he was captain-coach.
Chris Anderson quit the club at the end of the 1997 after a lifetime of service as a player and coach.

Chris Anderson yesterday became the highest-profile rugby league coach to switch codes when he signed a two-year contract with Newport Gwent Dragons.
A year ago Anderson was in charge of the Australian rugby league side as well as Cronulla Sharks, but he was sacked by the Sharks in November and lost his position with the Kangaroos in February to his predecessor, Wayne Bennett.
Anderson is the first one to cross the divide and be put in charge of a side, even though he has no direct experience of union.
