Superosity
Superosity is a daily Keenspot-hosted webcomic by Chris Crosby. It focuses on the adventure-filled life of an idiot who wears a cape for no apparent reason (Chris), his perpetually angry teenaged brother (Bobby), a sentient board (Boardy), and their friends. The Sunday comic usually focuses on the fantastical imaginations of Chris's pets, Giz (a dog) and Mask (a cat). Keenspot claims to be the largest publisher of exclusive webcomics on the Internet. ...
Superosity is notable as a 'gag-a-day' comic that exploits the internet's friendliness for deep backstory. Comprehensive, freely available archives and immediate reader interaction have traditionally allowed story-based webcomics to support complex, extended plotlines that would be less feasible in other media. Wacky, punchline-based Superosity, with its short, discontinuous arcs is hardly a traditional 'story' comic. Nonetheless, characters regularly allude to events of years past; and seemingly one-off events (such as Bobby's encounter with the omnipotent Hanson brothers, or the accidental introduction into our universe of an alternate, professional baseballer George W. Bush) have reprecussions far down the line. Boardy's various time-travel adventures have even given the strip a cohesive future history of the next several thousand years. Also notable is the occasionally touching Jeeves-and-Wooster relationship shared by Boardy and Chris. One dim but good-hearted and unshakably loyal; one a brainy, pragmatic, and occasionally put-upon servant who deftly extracts his master from hopeless predicaments, often through use of laser cannons and/or time travel. Chris's childlike certainty that Boardy will be able to create a licorice TV or abolish 18th century slavery without affecting history is often the twisted heart of the strip. Superosity launched on March 1, 1999. It has an archive of nearly 3,000 strips to date. March 1 is the 60th day of the year in the Gregorian calendar (61st in leap years). ...

Weasels Filmography 'The 'Weasels' films are a fictional film series within the Superosity universe. A new film has been released each summer since the first year of the comic, when character Snap The Punk Turtle joined the cast of the 6th 'Weasels' film as franchise-renewing superspy character "Rasputin". Here is a listing of all the 'Weasels' films referenced in the comic thus far. - W3: Weasels in West Miami (1993) Directed by Brett Ratner. This is the only pre-1999 Weasels film referenced.
- W6: Weasels in London (1999) Directed by Forman Mikumacher. The debut of Rasputin (Snap) and Zach White (Terrence Baum).
- W7: Weasels in Cyberspace (2000) The Weasels are trapped in a Matrix-like cyberspace world.
- W8: Weasels Island (2001) The Weasels are trapped on an island.
- W9: Weasels in Space (2002) The Weasels travel to outer space. Bobby plays "Lava Victim #62"
- W10: The 10th Dimension (2003) Screenplay by Snap, Jack Nicholson, and Tim Robbins (credited to Alan Smithee). Directed by music video director X-Acto. Filmed in 10-D (a super-advanced form of 3-D). Rasputin dies after peeking into the 10th dimension and discovering that George W. Bush is the Anti-Christ.
- W11: Rasputin vs. Tarantula Turtle (2004) In a crossover with Snap's other film franchise "Tarantula Turtle", Rasputin (now alive somehow) makes an "historic truce" with Tarantula Turtle and they team up to fight computer-generated wolves and search for Rasputin's estranged son in the frozen ruins of Las Vegas. Though Snap was paid $35 million, he did not appear in the film. His characters were computer-generated and voiced by Glenn Close.
- W12: Another Weasels Movie (2005) Written, directed, and starring Terrence Baum. Aside from a 30-minute recap of clips from previous Weasels films, Snap does not appear (it's assumed he was killed off again in the previous film). Baum's Zach White stars and another turtle takes over the role of Rasputin, in a sense. It is explained that the contents of Rasputin's "heart" have been "downloaded" into this new character.
- W13: Rasputin Fights The Devil, Dracula, And A Little Ghost Girl (2006) A horror-themed installment released on 6-6-06, with Snap once again playing an alive-again Rasputin. It turned out to be a huge flop at the box office.
Sore Thumbs Sore Thumbs is a manga-style webcomic drawn by Owen Gieni and written by Chris Crosby, which started on March 8, 2004. It is more or less an allegory of the current political landscape in America. Sore Thumbs mainly centres on the trials of Fairbanks Greensworthington and his sister Cecania. The focus of the comic is the Sore Thumbs Video games store, which Fairbanks owns; Cecania, Harmony and Sawyer are employees there. The strip frequently makes use of bizarre and incongruous similes and metaphors, and there is a running gag wherein Super Mario (the Nintendo character) is supposed to look like a penis. A focal comic point is Fairbanks's strained relations with the oddballs, lunatics, game fanatics, and even normal people who come into the store. An anomaly of the strip is that the characters are supposedly being portrayed by actors in the strip, and there are a few strips that have the 'actors' addressing the audience out of character. March 8 is the 67th day of the year in the Gregorian Calendar (68th in leap years). ...
2004 (MMIV) was a leap year starting on Thursday of the Gregorian calendar. ...
For nearly two decades, Mario has been the official video game mascot for Nintendo. ...
The series rarely addresses issues in gaming (at least, compared to other self-proclaimed gaming comics, such as Penny Arcade), instead often focusing on extremely exaggerated political issues (with a notable liberal bias). ...
Characters Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. - Cecania Greensworthington - The main character of the strip, as most of the stories are either about her or involve her in some way. The sister of Fairbanks, Cecania is outspoken and extremely liberal. Her beliefs cause her to be frequently at odds with her brother, and she testified against him at his murder trial. When she returned home from college after attaining her degree in "TV Horror Show Hosting", she was essentially forced to work at Sore Thumbs in order to pay for her room and board at her mother's home. Cecania is mostly known for her cartoonishly proportioned figure, because of which she is forbidden by the U.S. Supreme Court to wear a bikini in public. When she does, dozens of women commit suicide and several male infants spontaneously go through puberty. She is a vegan and has campaigned for drive-through abortion clinics. She has sent gifts to Mel Gibson, and in return received a video of his wife burning them. Cecania once got a job as a horror show host (which, as it turned out, aired only in Guam) but was incarcerated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security because Gooner Craven, the director, was an Al-Qaeda operative. Cecania is dating Sawyer Kaden, despite the fact he has no penis, but the relationship has come on the rocks due to Cecania cheating on him with her old instructor, Threat Idol, as a payment of sorts for meeting Elvira. Cecania is played by the actress Tyfinni Gwynn.
- Fairbanks Greensworthington - The Proprietor of the Sore Thumbs Video Game Shoppe and Hot Dog Stand, Fairbanks is the outspoken, extremely conservative brother of Cecania. He is a caricature of modern extremist Republicanism. He once drowned two men in soup for 'looking suspicious' (they had beards). The jury acquitted him, mainly because the trial was a week after 9/11. He has been given an award by Senator Joseph Lieberman for his efforts in combatting evil. Before Cecania, Harmony and Sawyer arrived, the games in the shop were generally campy in content, such as "Teletubbies: Journey to Nebraska", "Boring Rabbit", "Bounce Ball 2", and "Sandwich: the Game"; since then, the games he stocks have become more mainstream. He was given a medal by the Vice-President of the United States for slaughtering a hive of terrorists while trying to rescue Cecania from the wrong federal facility (even though Coleman was the one who killed most of the terrorists). He is exaggeratedly courteous to blacks, yet openly contemptuous of Asians. As for his personal life, Fairbanks is in a relationship with Harmony (though there are some hints that Fairbanks might be a closet homosexual). He also has a tendency to play video games in the nude. He was originally played by Australian actor Antonio X. Silver, until he was killed by a bull, and is now played by Antonio's mute twin brother, Miguel Silver, Jr., and voiced by Sally Struthers.
- Harmony Nickel - Cecania's bubbly best friend and Fairbanks' love interest, she quit her job as a doctor in the middle of a brain operation to do nothing after finding out that work was hard. Harmony hated being a doctor and only became one because of peer pressure. Harmony loves Fairbanks, but because of her absentminded nature, she at times toys with his emotions or forgets entirely that she is with him. Harmony is played by Sarah Jane Harper, who recently bore deceased actor Antonio X. Silver's child.
- Sawyer Kaden: The earnest and kind hearted rural beau of Cecania. While serving in Iraq, his penis was cut off by a tribesman on horseback when Sawyer was wandering the desert after a prank by his fellow soldiers. He was initially told that it had disintegrated once it hit the sand (though this is proven to be untrue, since his feet would logically also have combusted), however it is actually being held in Japan as the "beloved flesh Super Mario statue". After returning home, Sawyer started a video game store with the numerous games that were donated to him, though business proved bad until he partnered with Fairbanks. Sawyer is the owner of Coleman the Bear and is devoted to his friends. Though Sawyer's kind nature gives people the impression that he can be easily pushed around, Sawyer has proven that he isn't a man to be taken lightly, as noted by his one kick knockout of Threat Idol. His future with Cecania is currently in jeopardy because of her infidelity. He has two tattoos; one of his late mother, the other of Johnny Cash. Sawyer is played by rapper Blingy.
- Coleman the Bear: A dwarf adult blue polar bear. He is Sawyer's pet and best friend, given to him by his commanding officer of his unit after Sawyer's "injury" in Iraq. Coleman is named after the former child actor Gary Coleman. He is usually quite harmless, though Coleman's full ferocity was once unleashed on a swarm of terrorists. Coleman is also known to attack tennis balls and Fairbanks, either because his head is shaped like a tennis ball or because he may just instictively hate him. Coleman is quite skilled at video games and is often the best player among the Sore Thumbs crew. Coleman is played by the real Gary Coleman, who needs ten hours of makeup a day to make him look like a bear.
- Rondel Mayflower IV: The decrepit, lewd, sexually deviant rival of Fairbanks. He is on good terms with the gang, even though he and his girlfriend Jasmine tried to betray "Fairbanks's Eleven" (the group Fairbanks organized to rescue Cecania) to a terrorist cell (they, in turn, were double-crossed by the terrorists). He is a self-proclaimed "multi-sexual", claiming that bisexuality was "too limiting". He claims to eat a bucket of horse semen every time one of his friends dies, until he is the "last friend standing" (a takeoff of reality television). He is also bald and wears a toupee to cover up the fact. Rondell has made some odd decisions with his money, the most notable example of him having once invested $250,000 into an off-Broadway stage production of War of the Worlds.
- Jasmine: Stone-hearted and sardonic rival of Cecania and girlfriend of Rondel, with whom she has a porn-video contract. Jasmine was originally hired at Sore Thumbs when Cecania left, though she would later defect to Rondel when upon her return. It is strongly hinted she once committed many, many crimes, including infanticide. She and Rondel tried to betray "Fairbanks's Eleven" to a terrorist cell (they, in turn, were double-crossed by the terrorists). Apparently a satanist. Jasmine is incredibly superficial and is proud of the fact she has breast implants.
- Fairbanks's Eleven: A group of people Fairbanks recruited to save Cecania from a government facility (details below). The idea is based on Ocean's Eleven. Most of these were people Fairbanks interviewed for a job at Sore Thumbs before settling on Jasmine. They were:
o Fairbanks o Rondel o Sawyer o Coleman o Harmony o Jasmine o Harry Guy: a large, rambling man with a perpetually pregnant wife. o Rob ("Roh-Ob"): a tech whiz of East Asian heritage. o Old Man Seemburg: a grumpy old man who claims to have invented the two-dollar bill and built Disneyland himself...with his bare hands. o Pierce Nudengfeder: confused, piercing-laden punker. o Reginald O. Cousins: an aloof, creepy sexual deviant. These last five were killed by the terrorists, but the consciousness of Old Man Seemburg was uploaded into an Xbox 360, which eventually spontaneously combusted due to a design flaw. - Flower: The gay assistant to the director of the horror show Cecania was hosting, Flower had sole choice in the casting, as he was controlling the director, Gooner Craven, with hallucinogens. Flower chose Cecania after she said, "Only a damned fool would choose the other auditioners! You are not a damned fool!" (Flower replied, "That's right-- I are not a damned fool!") After Flower was captured with Cecania, he spilled the beans about the director (who was an Al-Qaeda operative) and was consequently made a secret agent. Flower occasionally drops in on the gang now and then and as a gay man has the ability to teleport from party ot party on Oscar night. As it turns out, Flower is Rondel's brother.
- Gooner Craven: The director of Cecania's horror show, heavily drugged by Flower, he is capable only of spouting Movie and TV quotes. An Al-Qaeda operative, he was killed by CIA agents.
- Mother Greensworthington: The vain, alcoholic mother of Fairbanks and Cecania. A stereotypical high-society matron, Mrs. Greensworthington makes no attempt to hide the distaste she has for her daughter, and tore out her kitchen to install a round-the-clock food court, due to her dislike of cooking. She recently abandoned her poodle for Nintendogs, only to slam its head in the Nintendo DS in an attempt to meld its mind into the game. Did not much care for the second season of Dallas.
- Father "Horus" Greensworthington: The out-of-date, psychotic father of Fairbanks and Cecania. He resembles a muscly, balding, unshaven, cool, tattooed, fifty-something-year-old version of Fairbanks. When he learnt that Mother Greensworthington was pregnant with twins, he ran off to Canada for twenty-five years saying that he had to go fight in "gangland gang war that involved gangs". He wanted Fairbanks and Cecania to be named Fairplay and Cyreti. He was recently arrested for murder of Mother's new boyfriend, who happened to be pregnant at the time.
- Fairplay and Cykreti: Apparently Father's children who live in Canada. They are almost exactly like Fairbanks and Cecania, only with switched personalities; Cykreti is a conservative and Fairplay is liberal. They were seen only once thus far, debating the merit of having Stephen Harper as prime minister and remarking they hadn't seen Father since 'last American Thanksgiving'.
- Professor Threat Idol: A big scary black man who practices voodoo. He was Cecania's former horror hosting teacher in college. At one point, he invited Cecania to dinner, where she met horror film legend Elvira. As a sort of payment, Cecania cheated with him on her boyfriend Sawyer. He was unapologetic about the affair and later discussed some of the night's more graphic details in an attempt to hurt Sawyer, for which Sawyer repaid with a knock out via a single kick to the face. He has a fetish for clowns and maintains that he lost count of the number of clowns he has dated after 'lucky number 33.'
- Jimmy Peterford: A Nintendo fan who, several years ago, wrote a letter to Nintendo Power Magazine and successfully predicted the wii. He seems to have telekinetic abilities, which he used reveal that Rondel was drugging Cecania by levitating him to the ceiling using "anti-gravity generated by my brain" (although he later stated he did not know that was possible). He also tried to help Cecania out when she became brunette by pointing out she was "not who [she] was anymore." He randomly has glowing eyes and frequently says "I play the videogames".
- Delilah Wilson: The sister of Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson, currently in a relationship with Sawyer. She was introduced to Sawyer by Luke Wilson while Sawyer was in Los Angeles visiting his comatose cousin. She is a rather friendly character, and has said that she would never has sex with anybody, much to Sawyer's content (he has no penis). After Cecania jumped off the roof of the Sore Thumbs store, Delilah traveled back with Sawyer, and immediately earned Cecania's spite. It can also be noted that Owen and Luke Wilson have no sister in real life.
Story Threads - The beginning: Cecania returns from college and is forced to work in Fairbank's unpopular game shop. Harmony shows up, meets Fairbanks, and the two fall in love. Cecania meets Sawyer and Coleman while looking for better games, then convinces Fairbanks to buy Sawyer out. the combination of better games and Cecania's figure make Sore Thumbs prosperous, but soon Rondel moves in across the street.
- Fairbanks's Eleven: Cecania auditions for a horror show hosting position, and squares off against her archrival, Jasmine. Cecania gets the job and has to leave Sore Thumbs for a distant city. After a party thrown in Cecania's honour, she leaves and Fairbanks sets upon finding a replacement for her, eventually settling upon Jasmine. After introductions to Gooner Craven, the drug-controlled director, his gay assistant, Flower, and a talking dress, Cecania begins taping, unaware the show will only air in Guam. In the middle of the second take, however, CIA agents come in through the roof, shoot up Gooner, and capture Flower and Cecania. As it turned out, Gooner was an Al-Qaeda operative, and the show's script contained a secret code. After seeing an announcement of Cecania's capture on the news, Fairbainks assembles a squadron to fight the army and capture Cecania, to which both Jasmine and Rondel have sabotage plans. Upon meeting each other, however, they decide to merge them into one. After Fairbanks recriuted the other applicants, Fairbanks's Eleven was born (see above.) Meanwhile, Cecania enlightens a CIA agent and escapes trouble, as does Flower, who spills the beans on Gooner and is made an honorary agent. Fairbanks's 11 arrive at the Springfield detention center and knock out the front guard. However, Cecania is in Washington, and Springfield is staffed by terrorists being lulled into a false sense of security. Within minutes, five of the 11 are killed (see above). Rondel goes on the terrorists side, but is double-crossed and reveals he apparently had a deal with Osama bin Laden. When all seemed lost, Sawyer sics Coleman on the terrorists, which Coleman makes short, bloody work of. The group is reunited, and Cecania and Sawywer share a passionate kiss, while Coleman coughs up a hand. Fairbanks is then given a medal by the Vice-President.
- Double-Date: Rondel and Jasmine go on a double-date with Sawyer and Cecania. They go to see an off-Broadway staging of War of the Worlds that Rondel invested $250,000 into. For dinner, Rondel eats a whole raw Emperor penguin, Jasmine ordered a fugu-like fish costing $1500 that intantly kills 1 in 12 eaters, Cecania had a plate of flowers, and Sawyer had a beakless penguin stuffed with flowers. Afterwards, they went to wait in line for a nightclub; as it turned out, the line was the club. Meanwhile, Harmony and Fairbanks enjoyed an evening of racing games in the nude.
- The Beach: The gang goes to the beach. Cecania must wear a Victorian swimsuit, for reasons cited above. After some shenanigans, Sawyer is hounded by some women, who spurn Cecania. Havoc ensues when Cecania alters her swimsuit to a bikini.
- Father: Cecania and Fairbanks' father returns home, to a less-than-excited family. The gang learns of the Greensworthingtons' roots (see section for Father above). The idea of a quadruple date (Cecania + Sawyer, Coleman + Mother's Poodle, Fairbanks + Harmony, and Mother+Father) surfaces; Fairbanks vetoes the Coleman-with-Mother's-poodle date, as an interspecies date would be 'an affront to God'. To try to ward off Father, Mother pretends to date the butler, whom Father instantly kills. Father is then arrested, as the butler was part of an experimental male pregnancy program and carrying the Governor's child.
