He attended Heaton comprehensive school where he made an arse of his A-levels, and in 1978 he began work as a clerical officer at the DHSS central office in Longbenton, Newcastle. Chris, together with his brother Simon and a schoolfriend Jim Brownlow, set up Viz in 1979 from a bedroom in Newcastle. He was editor (or head of the "editorial cabinet") for many years, but retired from day-to-day duties in 1999, and now only contributes occasional cartoons. He has since written a personal history of Viz magazine entitled Rude Kids. Simon Donald is a co-founder and co-editor of the British comic magazine Viz. ... This page refers to the year 1979. ...

Donald comes over as a sharp, self-deprecating bloke who hates naval-gazing, the advertising world and pretentious folk who use big words.
Chris Donald is the man who started it all in his bedroom and here he takes us through it's inception, through it's peak years of the late 80's and early 90's (where it was the UK's third best selling magazine) and onto it's inevitable downfall.
Towards the end he reveals his shrink thinks this is because he can't discriminate between Viz and Chris Donald; they have become one and the same to him.
