Chris Madsen (18511944) was born in Denmark. He was a soldier in the Danish Army and later immigrated to the United States in 1870. He was quartermaster sergeant of the Fifth Cavalry and fought in many major Indian campaigns. Later, in 1883, he became President Chester A. Arthur's guide to Yellowstone. He was determined to destroy outlaws and later became a deputy marshall in the Oklahoma Territory.
