Christian VI (30 November 1699 - 6 August 1746) was King of Denmark and Norway from 1730.
Personally, Christian VI was a puritan of simple habits, and a man with a tendency to shun human society.
On his passing in 1746, Christian VI was interred in Roskilde Cathedral.

Christians forargelse over farens kvinneglade og bigamistiske liv førte til at han, som en av sine første regjeringshandlinger, omgjorde farens testamente og fratok enkedronning Anna Sofie, Frederik IVs andre hustru, en stor del av den formuen hun hadde arvet.
I 1735 utstedte Christian VI den beryktede helligdagsforordningen om tvungen kirkegang, hvor pliktforsømmelser medførte bøter eller opphold i gapestokken.
For å understreke eneveldets verdighet sørget Christian VI også for oppførelsen av flere prestisjebygninger, heriblant det første Christiansborg.
