Christie is a census-designated place located in Adair County, Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 166.


Geography

Christie is located at 35°56'56" North, 94°38'51" West (35.949018, _94.647545)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 20.1 km˛ (7.8 mi˛). 20.1 km˛ (7.8 mi˛) of it is land and 0.1 km˛ (0.04 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 0.26% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 166 people, 65 households, and 52 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 8.3/km˛ (21.4/mi˛). There are 70 housing units at an average density of 3.5/km˛ (9.0/mi˛). The racial makeup of the CDP is 58.43% White, 0.60% African American, 30.12% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 10.84% from two or more races. 0.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 65 households out of which 32.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.5% are married couples living together, 15.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.0% are non-families. 15.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 2.83.


In the CDP the population is spread out with 24.1% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 107.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.8 males.


The median income for a household in the CDP is $19,063, and the median income for a family is $27,656. Males have a median income of $25,893 versus $17,143 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $9,268. 17.0% of the population and 17.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 12.5% of those under the age of 18 and 28.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

ESTES, C. Christie and Charles H. Smith had judgments on their cross-petitions against Mutual Oil and Gas Company for labor and material in the drilling of an oil and gas well and foreclosing their liens on the leasehold and property belonging to the Mutual, from which the latter appeals.
Christie pleaded that his oral contract was dated June 27th, but the court found there was no oral contract of that date.
Christie's action was, in fact, for a balance due after giving credit for the amount paid by the Mutual.
