Christmas Without Cruelty Fayre is an event held every year in London, England to promote a cruelty-free lifestyle. The event is organised by Animal Aid.
There are goods on sale including fair-trade crafts and jewellery, cruelty-free cosmetics, recycled goods, environmentally friendly clothing, non_leather boots and shoes and seasonal cards and gifts. The 2004fayre is expected to host 60+ stands selling cruelty-free gifts. There is a lecture programme throughout the day, plus a celebrity auction, and veganbuffets and cakes. Promoted as a family event.
When more bridges were built in the 18th century, the city expanded in all directions as the mostly flat or gently rolling countryside around the Thames floodplain presented no obstacle to growth.
There are some hills in London, examples being Parliament Hill and Primrose Hill, but these provided fine prospects of the city centre without significantly affecting the directions of the spread of the city and London is therefore roughly circular.
It is helped even less by confusion of the term "Greater London" with the political entity of the City of London, which is often confused with the metropolitan area.
