Yasunori Mitsuda was the composer of most of the original soundtrack, with contributions by Nobuo Uematsu. The beta version of the game has a slightly different soundtrack. At least one of these 'extra' tracks has been the subject of a remix. Additionally, one more unused song exists solely in the Japanese cartridge of the final game. A fanfare, its instrumentation was removed before the game was shipped, meaning the only way to listen to it is to manually assign instruments through codes. A recreation was made and hosted as part of the Compendium's supplemental package, which contains mostly ambient / background sounds .spcs not present in the SNESMusic.org package.
