Overview
Originally introduced in 1983 for the 1984 model year, the Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager were based on the Chrysler S platform, an extended derivative of the Chrysler K platform. In Canada, the vans were advertised as "Magic Wagons", and they are often referred to as "Chrysler Magicwagons" in Canada today. When the Chrysler minivans were introduced, the rival Volkswagen Transporter was in its third generation as the Vanagon, to which Volkswagen no longer held the minivan market. 1983 (MCMLXXXIII) is a common year starting on Saturday of the Gregorian calendar. ...

It could hold as many as 12 passengers (15 in the stretched version) and was Plymouth's first truck-bodied vehicle in many decades.
