Vineyard Gazette - Features (813 words)
Cillian and Niall Vallely, brothers from a musical family in the north of Ireland, play two of the most damnably difficult musical instruments ever devised - the uilleann pipes and the anglo concertina.
Cillian seemed to rest in the embrace of the pipes, the bellows strapped to his right arm, the bag under the pressure of his left, his fingers flying on the chanter and his right forearm deftly operating the regulators and drones.
Cillian Vallely played a long, mournful air which built steadily until its powerful emotional climax as the drones and regulators kicked in.
