Cimarron River - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (142 words)
The Cimarron is the name of two rivers in the United States.
The other, shorter Cimarron River, also in northeastern New Mexico, runs for 60 miles (97 km) from Eagle Nest Lake and Dam to below the city of Springer and is a tributary of the Canadian River.
The first dozen miles of the river is known for its fine trout fishing.

The Cimarron River in Morton County, Kansas is an intermittent river, normally flowing during periods of flooding.
Although fish surveys of the river in CNG were done in the late 1980's and early 1990's, they were conducted during summer when the river's aboveground water level is virtually non-existent, except in the scattered deep scour pools and beaver ponds.
Fathead minnows prefer a mud to clay substrate which is limited in the CNG portion of the Cimarron River, and may account for the species' apparent paucity.
