If a player has their name as "??????", they may encounter a Team Rocket trainer while surfing on the Cinnabar coast (after saying "No" to the Old Man in Viridian City.) If a player runs into the trainer, he/she must battle, and the trainer will send out 6 glitch Pokemon, including Missingno. and 2 Nidorino that have an attack called "TM42", that when used will be much like Selfdestruct, except that the Nidorino itself never faints, which causes the game to freeze or white out. After defeating the trainer, the player may run into the same trainer he/she just beat by surfing up and down the coast. There are more glitched trainers like this if you use a different name for your character. Certain character symbols at the 3rd, 5th or 7th create different trainers. There is also a minor glitch in which the bald man in Cinnabar appears on the gym roof for a few seconds. In order to see this, you have to make sure that you don't have the secret key on you. Then you surf on the east coast, going upwards until you are level with the gym door. Then step back onto land to the left. A message will pop-up saying, "the door is locked". The bald man should appear to be sitting on the roof for a few seconds before returning back to the ground. In the later games of Fire Red and Leaf Green, the bald man has moved to the bottem of the town, just to be on the safe side of ensuring that this glitch does not take place again.
