List
Cities
NUTS:SE
ISO 3166-2:SE

This is a list of cities, towns, and market towns (köpings) in Sweden, that held their town privileges (Stadsprivilegium) by Royal Charter or by being established since ancient times. The cities lost their function as administrative entities in 1971, when they were replaced by the unitary authorities, which became the Municipalities of Sweden. The cities retains some symbolic tokens of their former liberties such as using a mural crown in their coats of arms. Apart from the chartered cities and market towns there are also Swedish towns that never held any special distinction.

List of cities in Sweden - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (162 words)
This is a list of towns with city status in Sweden (Swedish: stad, plural städer).
Legally and administratively, the term "city" is no longer used in Sweden, as the only existing form of local government is the municipality (kommun).
Some differences existed for the requirement to be a chartered city: the towns in the southern Swedish Scanian lands were granted their privileges under the Danish Crown, which had slightly lesser requirements.
