The City of Adam stood "beside Zarethan" (Joshua 3:16) on the west bank of Jordan (I Kings 4:12). At this city, the flow of the water was arrested and rose up "upon an heap" at the time of the Israelites' passing over (Joshua 3:16).
Adam was also the name given to the first man formed. That is the Adam mentioned in Genesis. Prehaps there is relevance in the fact that this is where the waters dried up in order for the tribe of Israel to cross the Jordon before Jericho.
