The City of Armadale is a Local Government Area of Western Australia. It covers an area of approximately 600 km² in metropolitan Perth, the capital of Western Australia and lies about 28 km south-east of the Perth CBD. The City of Armadale has a population of 50,000 and maintains 615 km of roads, a little over 14 km² of parks and gardens. History
Prior to 1894, the area was part of the Canning Road District. Kelmscott Road Board was gazetted in 1894. In 1910, it was renamed to the Armadale-Kelmscott Road Board. On 1 July 1961, it became a Shire Council following changes to the Local Government Act.
