An Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, Eason serves as a licensed engineer and assistant to the chief, Engineering-Construction Division at the Seattle District of the Army Corps of Engineers.
As a civilian, he served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm assisting the Kuwaiti government.
In 1998, he was awarded the NAACP Benjamin L. Hooks Keeper of the Flame National Award in 1998 for his significant contributions to the promotion of civil rights and work in the area of equal opportunity.

The Outstanding Civilian Service Award is the third highest honor the United States Department of the Army can bestow upon a civilian.
Eligible recipients include any individual (except Army civilian employees who are eligible for Army honorary awards, military personnel, or Army contractors), Federal Government officials at the policy development level, and technical personnel who serve the Army in an advisory capacity or as consultants.
The Secretary of the Army or a major commander may award this medal for outstanding service that makes a substantial contribution or is of significance to the major Army command concerned.
