Claddagh Records is a record label which was founded in 1959 by Garech Browne and Paddy Moloney. It specialises in Irish traditional music and spoken word. The first Claddagh album was by piper Leo Rowsome. The most famous artists in their roster are The Chieftains and Anuna. Claddagh Records is very proud to announce the release of a great recording of modern Irish poetry, written by one of contemporary IrelandÂ’s greatest poets.
This performance was recorded live for an audience in London in 1973, when the ghosts of the past were again beginning to disturb Ulster and the rest of Ireland.
Claddagh Records is proud to have published this new recording and we are sure that in time it will be held in the same high regard as our other classic recordings.

However, it is good to see Claddagh continuing to shun some of the gimmicks which have been pervaded Irish music for the last couple of decades.
It is delightfully sung and, on her LP (Deora Aille, Claddagh CC6), it makes a welcome contrast to some of the weightier items.
The recording was made late in life and, if I recall correctly, he had suffered a stroke some time previous.
