Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 96.3 km˛ (37.2 mi˛). 95.2 km˛ (36.8 mi˛) of it is land and 1.1 km˛ (0.4 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 1.13% water.
Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 8,970 people, 2,708 households, and 2,426 families residing in the township. The population density is 94.2/km˛ (244.0/mi˛). There are 2,797 housing units at an average density of 29.4/km˛ (76.1/mi˛). The racial makeup of the township is 91.83% White, 3.05% African American, 0.10% Native American, 3.43% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.61% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 3.51% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
