Classic Gold were wrong to suspend Tony Blackburn for playing Cliff Richard songs in the first place, but it's right they should keep Cliff on the airwaves - how many singers can you think of who have had hits over the last six decades.
In the case of Classic Gold, they have obviously decided that Tony Blackburn represents the "brand" of the personality radio DJ, the "way it used to be" if you like, and if that suits their "audience profile" then so should the "brand" of music that a DJ of that school judges to be appropriate.
Classic Gold is great because it appeals to a wide audience because of the wide choice of records it plays.
