Claudio Scimone (b. December 23, 1923) is an Italian conductor.
He was born in Padua, Italy and studied conducting with Dmitri Mitropoulos and Franco Ferrara. He has established an international reputation as a conductor, as well as a musicologist. He has revived many baroque and renaissance works. His discography includes over 150 titles, and he has won numerous prizes, including the Grand Prix du Disque.
He is the founder of I Solisti Veneti and honorary conductor of the Gulbelkian Orchestra in Lisbon.
ClaudioScimone is the Founder and Director of the world famous ensemble "I Solisti Veneti".
A native of Padua, ClaudioScimone is an internationally recognized musicologist and the author of "Segno, Significato, Interpretazione".
Many modern composers have written works especially dedicated to ClaudioScimone or to his group, like Sylvano Bussotti, Franco Donatoni, Riccardo Malipiero, Marius Constant, Christobal Halffter and several others.
