Clayton Allen Hensley is a Major League relief pitcher for the San Diego Padres. He was born on August 31, 1979 in Tomball, TX. Summoned from Triple-A Portland at midseason to fill a hole on the staff, Hensley was a revelation with his poise and command. He emerged as a vital figure in middle relief and made one spot start against the Dodgers on Sept. 10, making enough of an impression to stamp himself as a candidate for a starting role in 2006. He can throw any of his four pitches in any count, with a sinking fastball that is his out pitch. He did not allow a home run in 47 2/3 innings.
