The station is located at the eastern end of the Clayton Road level crossing. Shops are located near the station.


Facilities

The station consists of two side platforms. Platform 1 contains a large weatherboard building with an enclosed waiting room and a ticket office inside, while platform 2 contains a small weatherboard building. A large Metcard machine is located inside the waiting room, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2. Metcard is the ticket used to access public transport in Melbourne, Australia (under the moniker Metlink). History

Clayton station originally opened on Tuesday, 6th January 1880 as Claytons Road.
