Clic is a computer mouse who can enter and exit the digital world behind the monitor, as he pleases. Kat is a mangy hacker stuck inside the virtual world and always to ready to try and foil Clic's plans, though he never manages to get the best of the mouse. However Kat’s malice is not altogether gratuitous, but motivated by the profound envy he feels of the mouse, who is “first in the class” and whom he is constantly trying to emulate, but in vain. Together with Pointer and the Viruses, the other set characters of the series, they tell stories using action, gesture, expressions and highly effective music and sound effects, but no dialogue.The digital setting to the stories of CLIC and KAT takes the form of the landscapes typical of a cartoon (meadows, hills, roads, etc.) together with technological elements, blending together harmoniously and quite naturally.
In the scenes of action in which the pursuits take place, the background consists of the wings which unroll in PAN shots at different speeds, like children’s videogames.There are no didactic intentions in CLIC and KAT series, since nowadays the computer has become a common instrument above all for young people who use mouse and keyboard with the same nonchalance with which they use paper and pen. Likewise the themes dealt with are close to our daily experience (cooking, travelling, practising sport…) all of which facilitates the mechanism of identification with the characters. Simplicity and immediacy of the stories, together with a good dose of irony and amusement in telling them, are unquestionably the characteristic elements of the series.
