Cliff Balsam, a full-back, began his career as an apprentice with Torquay United, making his debut at the age of 17 on the 25th of January 1964 against York City at Bootham Crescent. He turned professional in March 1964, and in June the same year was transferred to Swindon Town after only 4 league games for the Gulls. However, he failed to make the first team at Swindon and left league football. Torquay United Football Club, nicknamed the Gulls, are an English association football team based in Torquay. ...
